The aroma was interesting. I like Ardbeg when I want a very rich and full drink, perhaps after a steak dinner. For some reason this reminded me a little bit of Mick Mcquaids flake or kind of like Paul Olsons 111 flake but not as round and silky. It's got a nice full but not overwhelming flavor and aroma, toasty and caramel-like. A relatively unique tobacco. I'd say if you like aromatics and want to get into virginias, this might be the way to go. The Red Virginia was tangy dark fruit sweet with wood and earth as a supporting player. These days almost no one remembers what pipe smoke might even smell like. A great tasting and smelling tobac (chocolate - molassis - raisons - fresh baked bread) to the smoker. I continue to smoke this in corn cobs, although I do not think it would infest a pipe. The flakes rub out fairly easily.. not dissimilar to Golden Sliced. I continue to not like the Orlik blends which goes against the grain of popular opinion. The flakes seems to be composed of half golden tobacco and half a dark tobacco. There is not much more to say about this blend. It has not bitten me even when I have at times puffed a little too fast and hard. The majority of reviews mention about molasses. I think someone that usually smokes aromatics or lighter blends but wants to dip a toe into flake or dark fired - they'd probably enjoy this. this is not bad smoke. Again, I want to return to this. One of my top 5 favorites here. There is a flavoring of maybe liquorice or anise as well that's done lightly. Similar Blends: Nothing I've ever had before..
